This painting was inspired by a visit to Mexico with my family. We walked around a small town and came across several paintings propped up on the sidewalk. They were guiding people into a little local gallery. Inside was this massive painting of a girl with bows in her hair. The plaque below it said “La Bonita by David Villasenor”. Surrounding the painting were smaller recreations of it done by students and local children. I couldn’t help but feel a strong sense of community and pride. When I got home, I immediately started on my rendition of “La Bonita”.
